Boston belles the villain7/8/2023 ![]() I loved how Persephone chipped away at his control and hard exterior from the start despite being his complete opposite. He may be known as The Villain, but he’s a product of his neglectful upbringing, his familial pressures and his drive for control. I’ll love them and probably loathe them at the same time but always continue wanting more.Ĭillian was definitely a fascinating character and like Persephone, I just wanted to peel back his layers one by one. Sanneh major labels7/8/2023 ![]() And even streaming services find it useful to rely on these categories if you want to explore Spotify, the first option you are offered is to browse by "Genres & Moods." The idea of transcending genre suggests an inverse correlation between excellence and belonging, as if the greatest musicians were somehow less important to their musical communities, rather than more. In the old days of record stores, every record in the store had to be filed somewhere. But in popular music, genres are all but inescapable. And moviegoers talk about "genre films," a term applied to films that fulfill the basic obligations of a certain genre, like horror movies or heist movies-and, it is often implied, do no more than that. In publishing, "genre fiction" is the down-market counterpart of literary fiction. ![]() What's so great about that? In visual art, "genre painting" refers to works that depict normal people doing normal things. I am always a bit puzzled when a musician is praised for transcending genre. ![]()

![]() One last thing, the narrator, Joshua Mackey is okay (emphasis like the new AT&T commercials, where such and such is just okay). My priorities have changed - I am going to buy land in Texas and hole up the family to wait out the inevitable. I've read and listened to several other books concerning the subjects upon which Quigley (and Plummer) sheds light. Knowing myself, I doubt that I will go on to attempt Quigley's work, I think I get the gist. This work is eye opening and frustrating. There are far too many coincidences for it to be anything but planned. There clearly is something besides "fate" operating at the highest levels of world governance that most humans will never know about. Plummer does a great job, is a great writer, and is on the right path. ![]() ![]() ![]() Wink-wink-nudge-nudge - no one has committed it to audio format, yet. At 1300 plus pages, Quigley's work is likely too much for most people to read. This is an introduction to Professor Carol Quigley's famous (and infamously LARGE) tome, 'Tragedy and Hope'. Will you take the red pill or the blue pill? ![]() |
